Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel takes a long time to open

This could because of several things

1. You installed some plugins to Word or Excel. E.g. PDF Maker

Tried uninstalled the plugin and see if that is the cause of it

2. The DDE maybe broken

Tried deselecting the DDE option in the ‘Folder Options->File Types’ for the file type doc and xls.
